The KPS Water in Oil Analyzers are used either for determining the quality of the oil during Oil production (BS&W) or for legislation purposes. This to prevent any penalties or discussions on environmental issues.
Water in Oil analyzers are also used to get more information on the behaviour of water emissions, and for efficiency reasons. Hence, what does it cost to make a barrel of slop oil?
Most water in oil and oil in water analyzers available on the market today are presented with performances at ideal conditions. This without mentioning the interference of most water in oil and oil in water analyzers to changes in density, salinity, sulphur, temperature, or changes in the transition of oil continuous to water continuous modes.
Using optical devices to detect the amount of water in oil or oil in water, is more commonly perceived as a temporary solution due to the presence of process coatings which can be detrimental to optical instruments.

The rugged KPS WCM (Water Cut Meter) is the ideal instrument for monitoring water concentrations in a hydrocarbon fluid. Not only can it measure with 1% of full scale accuracy regardless of the range, it can also automatically correct for density, salinity, and sulphur changes.
The KPS WCM Oil Water analyzer offers continuous, real-time data for net oil and net water, plus the conductivity, dielectric, and both real and imaginary parts of permittivity of the fluid. The KPS WCM Oil Water analyzer with patented antenna design reads both oil continuous and water continuous modes simultaneously and monitoring transitions between the two. Measurement is fully automatic with no need for operator intervention or supervision. The KPS WCM Oil Water analyzer also uses internal references to auto calibrate for drift caused by temperature changes of the electronics, the aging of the electronics components, fluid pressure, and fluid temperature.
The simplicity of design and quality of engineering employed in the KPS WCM Oil Water analyzer mean there are no moving parts. The KPS WCM Oil Water analyzer is the only water cut meter available with all the requisite electronics incorporated into the unit itself. The output signal can be sent to Flow Computers, SCADA, PLC's or to a Central Control Room for logging or display on chart recorders or monitors.

The KPS WCM Water in Oil analyzers have a large installed base on a global basis. Please find below a couple of closeby references:
The gained application knowledge and know how in the area of water in oil analyses, is applied with the delivery of new build water in oil analyzers.

| Range (water in oil): | 0-5% | 0-10% | 0-30% | 0-40% | 0-100% |
| Accuracy (at listed range) * | 0.05% | 0.10% | 0.30% | 0.40% | 1.00% |
* To ensure the highest degree of accuracy, the flow must be homogeneous. We can provide both Static Mixers as well as Jet mixers to create a fully homogeneous mixture in your pipeline. Proper calibration, also key to complete accuracy, can be achieved in the field with the KPS Portable Karl Fischer Moisture Analyzer. Data from the KF analyzer can then be entered into the WCM analyzer.
